Hot Dog and Bake Sale in Benefit of Austin Moore - UPDATE
Austin is a Grade 6 student currently enrolled in our school who is experiencing severe medical difficulties. To help the family, we held a Hot Dog and Bake Sale on Thursday, Feb. 2. The response from parents, students, staff and the local community was amazing!! Together we were able to give the Moore family $3400.00!
There were many amazing stories of generosity throughout the week leading up the Hotdog and Bake sale. Families and staff members were simply donating money through the week and over $1000.00 raised came just from donations.
We asked our parents to send baking for our Bake Sale and we were almost overrun with cookies, cupcakes, muffins and squares. Equally amazing were the amount of students who brought money to purchase the baked goods and who said, "You can keep the change".
Our local Pizza Hut, donated 8 extra large pizzas, which we sold by the slice, and an additional $100.00 that they collected from staff and patrons.
Two students brought in money they had raised over the summer from lemonaide stands they had set up.
On Sunday, Feb. 5th, a local community fundraiser was held to benefit the Moore family. During the afternoon Austin's teacher, Miss Green, presented Austin and his parents with the cheque and they were absolutely astounded by the amount of money had been raised.
The staff of St. Marguerite school was simply overwhelmed by our generous community and we cannot thank you enough for your support. Thanks to each and every person who helped in any way.
